How does HabitUnlock work?

HabitUnlock helps you build healthier screen time habits by requiring you to complete a quick exercise before accessing your selected apps. Choose which apps to block, set your exercise goal, and unlock them by moving your body.

What permissions does HabitUnlock need?

HabitUnlock uses three iOS permissions:

  • Screen Time (Family Controls) — to block and unblock your selected apps
  • HealthKit — to read exercise and activity data from your Apple Watch or iPhone sensors
  • Notifications — to send streak reminders and progress updates (optional)

Your health data stays on your device and is never sent to our servers. See our Privacy Policy for details.

How do I change which apps are blocked?

Go to Settings → Blocking & Limits in the app to update your app selection at any time.

How do I set up a blocking schedule?

In the app, go to Settings → Focus Zones to create time-based blocking schedules. You can set specific hours and days of the week when your selected apps will be blocked.

What if I need emergency access to a blocked app?

HabitUnlock includes an Emergency Override feature. Go to Settings → Emergency Override to set up a PIN that grants temporary access when you truly need it.

How do I manage my subscription?

You can manage or cancel your subscription at any time:

  • Open Settings on your iPhone
  • Tap your name at the top
  • Tap Subscriptions
  • Select HabitUnlock
  • Choose a new plan or tap Cancel Subscription

You can also restore purchases within the app via Settings → Restore Purchases.

How do I restore my purchases on a new device?

Make sure you're signed in with the same Apple ID, then open HabitUnlock and go to Settings → Restore Purchases.

My streak was lost. Can I get it back?

HabitUnlock includes Streak Freezes that automatically protect your streak if you miss a day. Premium subscribers receive more streak freezes. Unfortunately, we cannot manually restore streaks, but the freeze system helps prevent accidental losses.

The app isn't tracking my exercise correctly.

Make sure HealthKit permissions are enabled:

  • Open Settings on your iPhone
  • Go to Privacy & Security → Health → HabitUnlock
  • Ensure all activity data types are turned on

If you use an Apple Watch, exercise data syncs automatically. If issues persist, try restarting the app or your device.

How do I delete my account and data?

HabitUnlock stores all data locally on your device. Deleting the app removes all your data. No server-side account exists to delete. If you have an active subscription, make sure to cancel it first through your iPhone's Settings.

System Requirements

  • iPhone running iOS 17.0 or later
  • Apple Watch recommended for best exercise tracking (not required)
